Need to Use a Persuasive Word, Line, or Story?

Barbara Dee· 3 minutes

Four days, 40 Sam-I-Am readings, and 400 back-and-forths of who is in control here…

I just returned from my first solo expedition as the Adult in Charge of a 2½-year-old, my precious and precocious grandson. Persuasion by Design image for CDOpening my awaiting stack of mail and Amazon packages, I’m thrilled to get my first glimpse of the actual paperback book, Persuasion by Design, which we just published last week. My trains of thought collide, and I wonder: How much success did I have persuading Declan to do what I wanted vs. how much success did HE have persuading me to do what he wanted? “One more bite…” vs. “Up! Up!” I’ll give that some more thought another time, but it is abundantly clear that good parenting involves the art and science of persuasion.

Perhaps being good at anything involves the art and science of persuasion. You are probably speaking to or writing for a chosen audience and, at the very least, you’d like to persuade them to stop and see what you have to say.

Whether you need a persuasive word, line, or story, you’ll have an incredibly helpful tool at hand when you get your own e-book or paperback edition of Tyler Cook’s Persuasion By Design: The Copywriter’s Bible in the AI Era.  Here’s how we describe it on the back cover:

Persuasion begins with trust—a uniquely human connection.

Why do some messages instantly capture attention, while others are forgotten without another thought?

Tyler Cook reveals the persuasion principles behind writing that influence decisions, build trust, and drive action.

Every day, people are bombarded with emails, ads, social media, and AI-generated content competing for their attention. Some get a laugh, a few get shared, but most are scrolled past and forgotten…

But some messages break through.

They stop the scroll.
They spark curiosity.
They move people to act.

The difference isn’t “better content.” It’s persuasion.

In Persuasion by Design, Tyler Cook reveals the psychological frameworks and practical copywriting strategies that transform ordinary writing into powerful influence. Drawing from neuroscience and decades of real-world marketing experience, he shows how the right words, used the right way, can shape perception, build trust, and guide decisions.

Inside, you’ll discover how to:

• Capture attention in a crowded marketplace
• Frame your message so it instantly resonates
• Use persuasion principles that influence decisions
• Turn curiosity into engagement—and engagement into sales
• Use AI as a tool while keeping the human persuasion advantage

Whether you're an entrepreneur, marketer, founder, or copywriter, the ability to persuade with words is one of the most valuable skills you can develop.

Because in a world overflowing with content, the people who understand persuasion will always rise above the noise.
