If I did even half of the “End of Year Reflection” exercises or the “Bold Goals for the New Year processes that show up with an instant knock on my holiday wreath, I doubt I’d finish before Valentine’s. And then it’s mid-February and I still can’t write the current year on a check, form, or letter.
Yes, I know—reviewing the past year can call forth gratitude, and new written goals are way more likely to come to fruition.
If you’ve invested time in any of those end-of-year rites of passage, good for you. Can’t hurt.
However—I’m writing this short note to you with a different idea. A promise. A personal assertion from me to you—that if you answer this one question I’m giving you right now, you will have a different year, one unpredictable, one that can bring you profound joy. When you give your full attention to the question and write everything that rings true for you, magic happens.
Are you game? When you aren’t in any rush, and it’s quiet, take a pen or pencil and write on a piece of paper:
What does my ideal day look like / how would one perfect day unfold and play out from start to end?
That’s it. Keep the paper somewhere that you can look at it from time to time.
If you have any insights or thoughts to share about what happens, I’m here. Love to listen.
p.s. I’m writing this at a new year’s beginning, but anytime you’re reading this is the perfect time to take me up on my promise. Take a few minutes and see what appears on your paper.
